The Town of Wasaga Beach issued the “Downtown Development Opportunity – Request for Expressions of Interest (‘RFEOI’)” on April 26, 2017 to seek expressions of interest from experienced mixed-use developers interested in participating in the development of Downtown Wasaga Beach, which includes redevelopment of the beachfront at Beach Areas One and Two. A total of five submissions were received and evaluated by the Downtown Steering Committee, which is comprised of members of Council, Town Staff and members of the public. A recommendation was then brought forward to Committee of the Whole on June 20, 2017 for consideration and was subsequently recommended to Council for approval. At the Council meeting on June 27, 2017, Council approved shortlisting Fram Building Group Ltd. & Slokker Canada Corp. as a potential development partners to develop Town-owned lands within Downtown Wasaga Beach. Council will be meeting with Fram Building Group Ltd. & Slokker Canada Corp. and touring existing developments as well as undertaking a third-party party audit to ensure that they have the financial strength to carry out the project to the satisfaction of the Town, prior to making a final decision. As the Town moves forward with the development of a downtown, there will be additional community consultations and opportunities to provide input.
