- Japanese beetles feed on a wide variety of plants and trees and can be in lawns as well
- Leave skeletonized leaves with only the veins left
- About 15mm long and 10mm wide with iridescent copper coloured wings and metallic blue-green head and thorax
- Consume leaf material between the veins of leaves
- May also feed on fruit
- Lay eggs in June which develop into tiny white grubs
- Adults emerge the following June and begin feeding and attacking plants in groups
- Adults live about 40 days and cause a great deal of destruction
- Can destroy crops
- Must be treated with an insecticide spray
