As new owners, Lisa and Robin were able to secure Mark Aarden’s expert tutoring in the art of chocolate. It is very important to maintain the level of quality Aarden's Chocolates is known for, and to carry on with some of the Aarden’s tradtions such a Oliebollen & Appelflap!In 1983, Mark started working in a bakery in Holland. Although he loved making fresh pastries every day, he was very excited when his employer asked to join him in a chocolate venture. They started production in the tiny basement under the bakery and very soon after they had to relocate to a larger building across the street. Before they knew what was happening, Mark was producing around 30 metric tons a year of the Finest Belgian chocolate, supplying many companies in Holland.
When he met his wife Monica in 1993, he told her of his lifelong dream: move to the country he fell in love with and start his own business. Together they started making plans and finally on April 1st, 1997, they landed on Canadian soil. After hard work and planning, they opened their chocolate business with big smiles on June 20th, 1997.
They believe they owe their success to hard work, big smiles and staying true to the quality of their products. Only the finest ingredients are used, everything is made in small batches to ensure the freshest product possible
